This diamond-shaped palitsa is worked on gold brocade with reverent attention to detail, honoring the sacred tradition of Orthodox Christian worship.
In Byzantine practice, the epigonation signifies a priest's blessing to hear confessions and serves as a clergy award of spiritual significance.
