Types of Orthodox Church Covers
The Orthodox temple uses several distinct covers, each with its own purpose, shape, and tradition. We make all of them to measure and can coordinate them as a matching set.
Altar (Holy Table) covers
The covering of the Holy Table — the inditia in Greek usage, oblachenie prestola in the Slavic — is the most prominent cover in the sanctuary. We make full altar covers and matching covers for the table of oblation (prothesis), cut precisely to the dimensions of your tables so they hang evenly on all sides.
Analogion (lectern) covers
Analogion covers dress the sloped lectern that holds the festal icon or Gospel. These are often changed with the liturgical season or feast, so many parishes order several in different colors. We make them to fit your specific analogion top.
Chalice covers and veils
The set of covers for the holy vessels — the two small aёr veils for the chalice and diskos and the larger aёr — is made in matching fabric and embroidery. These can be ordered on their own or as part of a coordinated vestment set.

Frequently asked about different covers
What is the difference between the eileiton and the antimins?
The antimins is the consecrated cloth signed by the bishop, bearing relics, on which the Liturgy is served. The eileiton (iliton) is the unconsecrated cloth in which the antimins is kept folded and which is unfolded beneath it. The antimins comes from your bishop; the eileiton is a textile you order.
What size eileiton do I need?
It should be comfortably larger than your antimins on every side when both are unfolded — antimins sizes vary by diocese, so measure yours rather than assuming a standard. Send us that measurement and we will cut to it.
Can you make a cover for something that is not in the catalogue?
That is largely what this category is for. Send the width, length and drop, say whether the piece is seen from all sides, and add a photo if you can. We will confirm the cut and the fabric before starting.
Will a custom cover match the covers we already have?
Yes, if we know what they are. If you ordered them from us we have the brocade on record; otherwise a photo and, ideally, an offcut lets us match the fabric, the galloon and the embroidery.
How long does a custom cover take?
Simple covers ship in about 3-5 weeks. A fully embroidered eileiton or a large custom piece takes 5-8 weeks. Tell us if you have a feast-day deadline and we will confirm the schedule when you order.
